Fridge and freezer temperature log guide
Fridge temperature logs prove you monitor cold storage. Paper sheets on steel doors are common — and commonly incomplete.
A useful log identifies the unit, time, reading, person and what happened if the reading was out of range.
What to capture
Unit name/ID, date and time, temperature, initials or user identity, and notes. Separate logs per unit beat one ambiguous column.
Know your target ranges from your procedures. When a unit fails, move high-risk food if required, engineer the fix, and record the corrective action — do not only circle the number.
Digital logging benefits
History by branch, exception lists for managers, and cleaner exports for inspections. Mobile entry reduces “I’ll write it later.”
Frequently asked questions
How often should we log fridges?
Follow your food safety procedures — many sites log at open and at intervals during the day. Consistency matters more than sporadic perfection.
